The Deep Ellum Arts Festival returns for its 22nd year. Amazing atmosphere, live music, restaurants, art, food and an overall lovely weekend. Add to that yet another gorgeous, blue sky weekend and it makes for an awesome day.
If you are coming from Collin County . . or Plano, like I was, I always take the DART train. I grabbed the red line and have the GoPass app to take a loot at the train schedule and purchase + activate my tickets. Easy peasy!

Jump off at the Pearl Street station (about 35 minutes) and now you can either walk to Deep Ellum (that took us about 15 minutes) or wait for the Green Line to Buckner (do NOT take the Carrollton green line otherwise you will head in the wrong direction).
When you see stuff like this . . . you are in the right place.
You’ll also see some cool shops and restaurants that run along Elm, Main and Commerce streets
Exhibit A – Brain Dead Brewing
Exhibit B – Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop
. . . . .and yes, I did purchase a Chocolate soda and a Cookie Dough Bites soda. Because I did.
You’ll also see this. The line for Pecan Lodge BBQ wrapped around the building. This line remained this length on our way into the festival and 7 hours later on our way out.
We grabbed an AMAZING drip coffee here (yes, they can add a shot of Kahlua or Bourbon to it) and if your hungry, omg, they create the most beautiful and delicious Avocado toast with a side of blackberries on a butcher board. My California me was loving it! Don’t miss Drugstore Cowboy!
Keep walking down Main Street until you see this . . .
or the van with the mustache.
The piano guy had a full house listening in, we took front seat and loved him!
If you love art, you’ll love this (click on the pic)
If you are looking for lunch, there are plenty of options within the festival BUT you will need to buy coupons (in $10 increments) and in cash. Hence the line for the ATM machines and coupon booths were pretty long. We like to stay on a tight budget so we head over to Commerce street and had an awesome relaxing lunch at Cane Rosso.
This was the boy’s lunch
And this was mine (so sad, choose boy’s lunch)
And then go grab some ice cream
And MnMs – they were there giving away these 3 kinds of MnM’s
Honey Nut, Chili Nut and Coffee Nut . . . . yummmm
You can also check out Elm St for places like Fuzzy’s, Salsera, On Premise, Green Room, Cafe Brazil, Serious Pizza. Pretty much everything.
And stop by Glazed. They are open around the clock. See that S’mores donut on the left? Its calling your name.
Don’t forget to walk down the side streets otherwise you’ll miss really cool places like this one.
Did I mention FREE admission? So there’s plenty of money to buy art and snacks.
Speaking of snacks, we had to head back to Drugstore Cowboy for one more coffee. And because its Deep Ellum, the cafe has a full line up of artists performing all weekend like these guys
And if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see this cutie from Ruffit USA who makes these cute dog carriers!!! OMG.
This cute pup needs one of my Dallas Pet Tags

One more close up . . .
After a full day, we walked back to the Red Line at Pearl Station and rode back to the quiet suburbs. I would say, see ya next year at the Deep Ellum Arts Fest but let’s be honest, Deep Ellum is our little Brooklyn and I’ll probably be back next weekend.
Carpe Diem y’all.
